Reminder!  COVID-19: Closure of all Enugu State boundaries, markets and inter-state transportation takes effect from 6pm, today, Tuesday, March 31, 2020. Categories exempted, according to Enugu State Government, are  those on medical emergency services and “those dealing on food items, water, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and other basic items of daily domestic need who must comply with the standard hygiene protocol as stipulated by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), including frequent hand washing with soap, use of sanitizer and social distancing.” Strict compliance is highly solicited! My attention has been drawn to a video making the rounds where people are misconstrueing a video recorded and shared by me to wish the Governor of Enugu State a happy Birthday. The vedio was recorded after an emergency meeting of all political  office holders in Enugu on how to tackle the Covid 19 pandemic. The meeting was on the on a day that happened to be the Governor's Birthday. So while the meeting was on a well-wisher delivered a beautiful Lion Designed cake to the Governor. The Governor almost rejected the cake on the grounds that he wanted no celebrations but we at the meeting prevailed on him to accept the cake. After the meeting just before we left, distinguished Sen. Ike Ekweremadu was asked by the State PDP chairman to moderate the cutting of the cake which he did. COVID-19: Enugu govt approves assurance package for doctors, other health workers …Mobilizes Volunteers, Town Criers for enlightenment campaign in rural areas In furtherance of his resolve to strengthen the state’s response to Corona Virus Disease pandemic, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has approved the immediate provision of Group Life/Group Personal Accident Assurance Policy for all medical doctors in the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu. In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, the assurance package is also extended to all doctors in the State Ministry of Health and all other health workers. The Enugu state government has disclosed that it will soon post specialists and consultants to its district hospital to further improve health-care delivery in the state. This statement was made by the state’s commissioner for health, Dr. Ekochin Fintan after the inspection of some district hospitals in Enugu North-Senatorial Zone. ENUGU- Following the collapse of 9th- Eke road, leading to the industrial cluster of Nigeria Breweries Plc, Aqua Rapha water company, among other industries, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state has pledged to reconstruct the road. Ugwuanyi also commended efforts of companies at the industrial area in job creation and poverty reduction. He particularly extolled the Management of Aqua Rapha Investment Limited for helping to reduce the number of idle youths on the streets by providing them with gainful employments. Ugwuanyi made the commendation when the management of Aqua Rapha visited him to present the European Quality Award the company won recently.
