ENUGU STATE SET TO IMPROVE HEALTH CARE DELIVERY

The Enugu state government has disclosed that it will soon post specialists and consultants to its district hospital to further improve health-care delivery in the state. This statement was made by the state’s commissioner for health, Dr. Ekochin Fintan after the inspection of some district hospitals in Enugu North-Senatorial Zone.
The hospitals inspected by the commissioner are; the Enugu Ezike district hospital, Nsukka district hospital and the on-going United Bank of Africa (UBA) sponsored college hospital in Nsukka, GRA and was certified fit to continue with its medical provision. Dr. Ekochin while inspecting this college hospital built through the corporate social responsibility of the UBA, assured that the Governor Lawrence Ugwuanyi, led administration is moved to ensure that health care in the state are up to standard practices and urged medical practioners in Nsukka district hospital
and Igbo-Eze north district to do their ulter most best to save lives of the sick in the society.

He said that the hospital had massive structures as well as medical equipment which would greatly assist the higher manpower and professionals to be posted to the hospitals. On the on-going UBA sponsored college hospital in Nsukka GRA, the commissioner thanked the organization for their corporate social responsibility project meant to improve the healthcare delivery of
the people. He said that the college hospital when completed and functional would have a full range of medical equipment and manpower to serve its purpose and complement what Nsukka district hospital is currently offering.

The commissioner inspected every department and urged for careful handling of medical equipment’s and impel them to make a report for the replacement of new apparatus without delay. He maintained that Enugu State Government has manpower, facilities and equipment’s to handle any He was impressed by the number of women who turned out to receive antenatal care. Dr. Ekochim encouraged the pregnant women to keep to the responsibility of visiting hospitals for medical checkup till their delivery. He advised that it’s only certified medical personnel can provide genuine medical care and warned them not to visit quarks for safety of their lives and the unborn child.
He noted that the government would strength all district hospitals to further improve on the primary program of the government which is the free maternal, nursing mothers and infant medical service.

According to him, the Governor is giving great attention to healthcare especially the free maternal and infant healthcare services currently running in the state.
Earlier, Dr. Anthony Agu, the chief medical officer in charge of Nsukka district hospital thanked the state government for the equipment and drugs regularly provided for the hospital
Agu lauded Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the on-going ultramodern structure meant for more wards in the hospital.

A pregnant woman at the hospital, Mrs. Veronica Ugwu, thanked the government for the free maternal, nursing mothers and infant in the hospital and the entire state. And asked God for His continual blessings on the Governor.
